Green in More Ways Than One
A few years ago, I had a conversation with Paul Colston from Conference News and C&MW about taking the train from London to Frankfurt in a more eco-friendly manner. That conversation has been sitting in the back of my mind for a long time.
This year, as my Dezika colleague and Co-Found for Venue Success, Sebastiaan Douma and I sat planning the trip to IMEX Frankfurt we realized that taking the train had a lot of advantages:
- It is more environmentally friendly
- It takes about the same amount of time as flying from Heathrow
- We can work on a big joint project that we needed to get done
- It is more comfortable
- It is less expensive than flying
Ok, we both love train journeys, even if they start at 6:18am but…
If you are questioning point two about the time – here is the break down –
1 ½ hours to Heathrow from SE London
2 hours in advance to check in
2 hours on the plane (if we are lucky)
1 hour Frankfurt – passport control & taxi into town
6 ½ hours
The train will take us 5 ½ hours not including 40 minutes to the station on the London end so is ultimately faster and easier.
So tomorrow morning Seb and I will jump onto Eurostar to Brussels and then switch to the ICE which runs high speed directly to Frankfurt and leaves us a short walk from the Messe.
This isn’t the only way that Dezika is eco-friendly. We have automated the commission collection system which means that you can now invoice, chase/pay and doing reporting for your commissions without having to print a single piece of paper.
Dezika also helps to save time and stress which is great for you as well as for the earth.
